PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Alliance Accountability Toolkit is a set of practical tools that empowers NGOs to hold their governments accountable for the safety of all road users. Build your own custom Accountability Kit using our interactive tools.

Using the Accountability Toolkit, you will play your part in reducing road deaths and injuries, contributing to SDG 3.6 and the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030. You will also help make our world safer, cleaner, more liveable, more equitable, and more sustainable.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES FOR IMPLEMENTING 30 KM/H ZONES

  1. Assessment of the status of government accountability and actions in relation to implementation of 30 km/h zones in the country using the with Accountability Toolkit
  2. Development of the Government To Do List advising specific actionable items for the implementation of 30 km/h zones
  3. Engagement of potential champions to communicate the Government To Do List with the NGO Map out stakeholders e.g. local organizations and/or UN agencies to seek their support you in presenting the Government To Do List and influencing government to act accordingly
  4. Engagement of government officials to obtain their buy-in and implement the actions as per the Government To Do List.
  5.  Meeting up with government officials together with the engaged stakeholders, building government buy-in to implement actions as per the Government To Do List and using the NGO Talking Points.

ACHIEVEMENTS

1.The commissioner Transport, regulation and safety committed to fast track the gazetting of the speed
limit regulations (30km/hr) to assist in reducing road safety risks associated to speed. The commissioner urged the CSOs to start carrying out awareness raising to the public about the speed
regulation

2.Held engagements with stakeholders on the 30km/hr and on the actions that we expect them to take in regard to that to ensure that they are well conversant and be ready to implement thence the commitment. T he engaged were ministry of works and transport, UNRA, KCCA and other CSOs in Road safety.
