Communication and Transparency Paramount for ROSACU Success.
The Road Safety Coalition Uganda (ROSACU) is a coalition that was formed by the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) that are running projects under the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP). On the 1st of April, we had a coalition meeting and in physical attendance was Mr. Clarence Makori and the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) In-Country Coordinator (GHAI) – Jackie Okao.

The Coalition brings together five CSOs namely: Uganda Road Accident Reduction Network Organisation (URRENO), Hope for Victims of Traffic Accidents (HOVITA), Centre for Policy Analysis (CEPA), Safe Way Right Way (SWRW) and African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME).
During the roundtable meeting, GRSP’s country Director- Clarence Makori highlighted the importance of communication and transparency in the success journey of the coalition. Other participants present suggested that focal persons be identified from each CSO so that ideas can be zeroed down on and tasks fully fine tuned by the identified individuals.
In the online attendance was Roxanne Paisible, the Associate Director of Advocacy at GHAI who in her submission advised that we specify and name the policies that ROSACU is influencing.

The meeting was brought to conclusion by a suggestion to have a board of all coalition member CEO’s meeting to put specific timelines on the implementation of the proposed edits for the ROSACU Action Plan seeing as there is a present anticipation that by 2023, the Ministry of Works and Transport in Uganda will have put in place improved policy and regulatory reforms for helmet and drink driving regulations as confirmed by Jackie Okao.
