Road Safety Sensitization and Awareness Campaigns for
Koboko – Yumbe – Moyo Road.

Overall Objective
The main objective is to carry out Road Safety Sensitization and
Awareness campaigns to the public about the causes, danger
and prevention measures of road crashes to road users of the
Koboko, Moyo and Yumbe road. This Project aims to deliver
heightened road safety sensitization and awareness based on
the best local practice but at the same time ensures the
campaigns are undertaken in a sustainable, efficient and
workable Ugandan context.
Specific Objectives
i) To raise and maintain public awareness of road safety issues
ii) To execute targeted road safety publicity campaigns,
following success pilots.
iii) To increase access to road safety information to road users
in Koboko, Yumbe and Moyo
and surrounding areas, including the Refugee Resettlement
areas.
iv) Improved collaboration with the road safety stakeholder,
including UNRA staff,
Department of Transport Regulation and Safety, MoWT,
Uganda Police (Traffic Department),
public transport operators, refugee communities, schools,
places of worship, market operators
and Local Government leaders.
v) To Improved and upgrade Sensitisation, Education and
Awareness educational tools and
materials on local and international best practices and
customized them to project Road.
vi) Pilot the road safety Sensitisation and Awareness, to test
and improve the quality of the
sensitisation campaign.
vii) Identify suitable local NGOs/Community Based
Organizations, develop capacity and
establish their linkages with road safety institutions enabling
them to assist the communities
to plan, manage and sustain their own road safety.
viii) To conduct capacity building and training amongst the
Project, UNRA and MoWT staff.
ix) Develop a Community Road Safety Training Plan and
communication tools including
their translation in the languages along the Project Road.
x) To provide and implement an efficient sensitization and
Awareness that ensures safe road usage and influence safe road
user behavior, with focus on risk factors of speeding, drunk-
driving, helmet and seatbelt use and other factors.
xi) Provide recommendations for future improvements of the
road safety publicity management in Uganda.
Awareness Creation and Management of HIV/AIDS, Gender, Gender-Based Violence, Child Protection, Occupational and Community Health and Safety and other safeguard risks (Malaria and TB) for Remedial Works on Ntungamo-Kabale-Katuna Road (65Km) Project.

Main objective
The overall objective of the program is to provide services for designing and implementing aprogram for project workers and communities on awareness creation and management of HIV/AIDS,Gender, Gender-Based Violence, Child Protection, Community and Occupational Health and Safety,and other Safeguard Risks on the Ntungamo-Kabale-Katuna road upgrading and rehabilitation projects.
Specific objectives
- To increase awareness of HIV/AIDS, GBV/VAC, Occupational and community Health and Safety risks among the target population (road workers and host communities)
- To enhance timely identification, management and reporting of HIV/AIDS, GBV, VAC and OSH incidents within the project areas for effective response with relevant actors.
